Mecklenburg County is poised to hire a new finance director, perhaps as early as this afternoon.
Dena Diorio, the director of finance and personnel in Danbury, Conn., is leaving her post there to take a job in Mecklenburg County, according to The News-Times newspaper there.

County commissioners are scheduled to meet in closed session about a personnel matter during a meeting that starts at 3 p.m. today.

Harry Weatherly retired last November after 23 years as Mecklenburg's finance director.
County Manager Harry Jones declined to comment.
