Dallas-based ACS (NYSE: ACS) was accused of violating the civil False Claims Act by submitting inflated claims for payment between 2002 and 2005 for programs run by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.

S. Department of Labor and the U.S.

Department of Health and Human Services. A federal investigation was started after ACS reported that several of its former employees acted inappropriately which may have resulted in additional payments being made to ACS by the Dallas County Local Workforce Development Board. ACS was a contractor for the board, which administered federal funds for local work force centers in Dallas County.

ACS, in a statement issued Tuesday, said four employees were terminated as a result of its own internal investigation. After an internal investigation revealed that employees in our Dallas Workforce program were not upholding our high standards on this contract we immediately notified the authorities, the company said. We worked closely with the Department of Justice to resolve this matter, and we are pleased to have reached a fair settlement today that meets the needs of all parties.
