has co-led a $15.8 million, first-round financing of Argolyn Bioscience Inc., Argolyn said Monday.

Intersouth Partners was the other co-leader. Amgen Ventures also participated in the funding. Argolyn will use the money to get its drug candidates ready for human clinical trials and to validate its patent-protected technology.

The Charleston, S.C., company is developing drugs to treat psychosis, pain and other disorders.
